Singer to perform VB school benefit

VAN BUREN, Maine — Local songwriter and musician Travis Cyr will perform a benefit concert at the Aroostook Hospitality Inn in Van Buren on Saturday, March 31, at 6 p.m.

Cyr plans to donate proceeds of the event to the Van Buren school music program.

“I understand the importance music plays in our lives,” he said. “I’m sure the music program could benefit from any consideration they can get in order to help repair or purchase some instruments or encourage some kids.”

There will also be a silent auction and refreshments available, with all proceeds going toward the music program.

The musician does not rule out the possibility of some special guest musicians for the evening.

Cyr’s songs fuse acoustic folk and roots music. He has released seven CDs of all original music and performed over 1,500 shows around Maine over the past 17 years. During the concert he will share some of his favorite songs from throughout his career.

Tickets will be $10 at the door.

For more information or to donate to the silent auction or the music program, call Cyr at 316-7415 or Rebecca Smith at 999-9973.
