PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The United Way of Aroostook will be hosting the Miss Presque Isle Pageant on Saturday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at the Presque Isle Middle School Auditorium.

The pageant will showcase four divisions: Mini Miss, Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss.  This year’s pageant is under the direction of Jolene Kinney, Betsy Fitzherbert, and Nicole DiVito.

The emcees for the evening will be Sherry Locke, executive director of UWA, and Jason Parent, executive director/CEO of Aroostook County Action Program.  This is the third year the duo has hosted the event together, but the United Way has held the pageant as a fundraiser for many years.

“It’s been a wonderful way to raise money to support our community.  This year’s funds have been specifically earmarked for the Community Playground project, said Locke. “In combination with last year’s pageant funds, we hope to donate a total of $5,000 towards the new playground.”

Kinney added, “It is a great opportunity for the contestants to be able to help with the Playground Project.  In years to come, they may have the chance to tell their children or grandchildren they had a hand in implementing the new playground.”

Community members who wish to support the contestants by attending the pageant can purchase tickets ($8 each) from any contestant, reigning queen, or by stopping by the United Way office at 830 Main Street in the Aroostook Centre Mall.  Tickets will also be available at the door the evening of the pageant.
