ASHLAND, Maine — Ashland District School senior Ariana Stadig of Oxbow was recently selected to receive the 2018 Principal’s Award, according to a news release from Principal Joel Hall.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship

“Ariana has truly made her mark at Ashland District School in terms of her school service, scholarship and leadership. Ariana is an outstanding student with high goals and expectations for herself,” Principal Hall said in the release.

“Ariana has always excelled while taking the most difficult classes ADS has to offer. She has participated in many other co-curricular activities in order to stay a well-rounded student.”

Stadig has served as president of the local National Honor Society chapter. She has been highly successful in All-Aroostook and All-State Bands, as well as participating in local musicals and show choirs. She has also participated on the Varsity Nordic Ski Team.

Stadig is the daughter of Bruce and Christina Stadig, of Oxbow. She plans to attend Husson University and major in elementary education.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
