LIMESTONE AND LONG LAKE, Maine – Marlene Durepo, 68, respected and well known Town of Limestone public servant passed away on March 29, 2018, at Boston, MA, following a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
She was born in Caribou on June 16, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Chester and Ruth (Dickenson) Norbeck. She was a 1967 graduate of Caribou High School. In 1971 she married Jeffery Durepo. Marlene served as the Town Clerk of Limestone as well as Tax Collector for over 20 years. She also was employed as the Guidance Secretary at Limestone High School, as well as working at the Aroostook Republican Office in Caribou for several years. She served on the Limestone School Board for a number of years, was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church as well as being a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She loved to spend time with her family at the camp. Many will remember Marlene for her bubbly personality and her infectious laugh that brought smiles to many. Marlene treated all with dignity and respect and had a way of making friends everywhere she went.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Jeffery, of Long Lake, are her children, Sarah Hutchinson and husband, Travis, of Bucksport, Tim Durepo and wife, Nancy, of Delanco, NJ; two sisters, Rita Adams of Caribou, and Glennis Wheeler of Southington, Conn. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Travis Hutchinson Jr., Alexis Durepo, Shane and Winter Hutchinson, Ghent, Saffayia, Taylor, and Sydney Durepo and Erika Thomas; as well as a great-grandson, Grayson Thomas, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Durepo was predeceased by her son, Dan Durepo, in 2017, and her brother, Fred Norbeck.
Friends may visit with the family at the Limestone United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, until time of services which will be held 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Cheryl Stratton officiating.
