HOULTON and PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Katahdin Trust celebrated its 100th anniversary in March. Hundreds of customers and community members stopped by to enjoy refreshments, giveaways and enter to win the daily drawing, including a $1,000 grand prize, which went to a Washburn resident.

“We are very pleased to announce that Michael Barker from Washburn was the winner of our $1,000 grand prize,” said Krista Putnam, Katahdin Trust vice president, marketing.

“We want to thank everyone who participated in our celebration. Nearly 80 community members received a door prize and hundreds more enjoyed giveaways and goodies all week long.

“It was a lot of fun to make the call to Michael,” said Joe Clukey, assistant vice president and retail services officer. “He didn’t know whether to believe me at first. It made our day knowing we made his.”

The anniversary celebration will continue with special events and surprises all year long.

“You only turn 100 once and we are making the most of it,” remarked Putnam. “We really do believe the best is yet to come and we are making the most of this historic achievement.”
