Alternative wellness clinic opens in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine— Rose Wellness, a new wellness clinic focused on an “all-natural” approach to nutrition and health, has opened on Main Street in Presque Isle.

Owner Darci Bubar has been a nurse for over 20 years and a nurse practitioner since 2009. Through her work with patients she has found that looking at a person’s overall health and possible areas of improvement might be a more beneficial way of helping them reach their wellness goals than putting much emphasis on prescription medications.

“Alternative medicine takes into consideration people’s needs and wants and gives them the empowerment to take care of their whole body,” Bubar said. “After listening to them and considering their symptoms, I can use the tools I have to help them with things such as nutrition, detoxing and decreasing inflammation.”

After first meeting with individuals, Bubar can recommend changes in nutritional habits, natural supplements, physical activity, heart-healthy practices or a combination of many lifestyle improvements. Many of the supplements, she said, can help individuals with brain focus, fatigue, immune support or skin care.

Bubar has provided alternative, also called “holistic,” health services to clients in the past, but Rose Wellness marks the first time that she has worked from a physical location. She is originally from Blaine and worked in cardiology and pain management for many years in Bangor before moving back to Aroostook County in 2017.

“I’ve wanted to open an alternative wellness clinic for probably 15 years now. A friend of mine had one in Bangor and I told her she was living my dream,” Bubar said. “She’s the one who gave me the courage to open my own clinic.”

Bubar is currently accepting clients.

“I’m looking forward to helping people feel better,” said Bubar, about her main goals with Rose Wellness. “I want to see people in the community know about the everyday ways they can gain greater health.”
