Peanut carnival, dodgeball tourney headline vacation week at PI rec

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Andrew Perry, programmer for the Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department, has announced the list of activities offered during the upcoming school vacation April 16-20 at the Sargent Family Community Center. 

The highlight of the week is the popular Peanut Carnival, which will be held Thursday, April 19. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the bicycle raffle will conclude the event at 3 p.m. Admission is $2.

Also, the Aroostook County Dodgeball Tournament will be held Friday, April 20, the Sargent Community Center. Recreation departments from surrounding towns will make the trip for the competition. Separate divisions are offered to grades 3-5 and 6-8. Registration is from 8-8:30 a.m. and the tourney begins at 9 a.m.

Basketball games like Knockout, Tips and Around the World will highlight the Monday, April 16 schedule. Capture the Flag and Dodgeball are featured Tuesday, April 17, and indoor soccer is set for Wednesday, April 18. On all three dates, grades 1-2 will play from 9:30-11 a.m., grades 3-5 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and grades 6-8 from 12:30-2 p.m.

The teen room will be open at a various times throughout the week, and open gym and family gym hours also will be provided. Call 764-2545 for details.
