Two Woodland roads closed due to mud

WOODLAND, Maine — The Town of Woodland recently closed portions of the Rabbit Ridge road and Skidgel road due to an abundance of mud that would likely cause problems for motorists.

Town Highway Foreman Chris Fournier said on Thursday that the closed portions of each road are unpaved and consist of dirt, which was softened in the early weeks of spring.

Fournier added that the roads are only used for through traffic, and that no houses are located in the closed segments.

He estimated that the roads will remain closed for a couple weeks, or until late April, and that they would just sustain more damage if opened early, ultimately taking the town longer to fix them.

“They’ll probably be closed for a couple weeks,” he said. “They’re drying now. Once the frost gets out of the ground they’ll be good.”
