Halfway Home Pet Rescue pet of the week (week of April 18, 2018)

“Mister, can you spare me a meal?” Kitten season has started for HHPR volunteers, who try to save kittens already born and encourage more people to spay/neuter their cats. Junior is an approximately 7-week-old kitten who has the body of a 5-week old. Due to poor nutrition, his mother’s milk was either not plentiful or good enough to allow normal growth during his struggle with his 6 siblings for his share of the milk. As the runt of the litter, his mother pushed him away. Junior is now beginning to thrive in his new HHPR foster home. When this photo was taken, he was fearful, but that fear did not keep him from diving into his high protein dinner mixed with KMR kitten formula. He is now eating like a little pig and joyfully playing with a variety of toys. Within a week Junior should be strong enough to enjoy an experienced orphan-kitten foster home with other age-appropriate playmates.
