MONTICELLO, Maine — A Linneus man was taken to a local hospital after a two-car crash in Monticello Monday morning.

Maine State Police Trooper Jared Sylvia said in a written statement that the accident happened at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Station Road.

According to Sylvia, Adam Maguire, 33, who was driving a 2000 Nissan Xterra towing a loaded dual axle trailer, was making a left turn from U.S. Route 1 onto the Station Road when his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by Adam Bennett, 40, of Houlton.

Sylvia said that Bennett, who was driving  a 2004 GMC Canyon pickup, told police that he did not see any blinkers activated on Maguire’s trailer and started to pass the rig.

The vehicles collided and then traveled across the southbound lane and onto the lawn of 5 Station Road.

The trailer disconnected from Maguire’s vehicle and struck the residence at 5 Station Road, causing significant damage to the home, according to police.

Personnel with Houlton Ambulance took Maguire to the Houlton Regional Hospital after he complained of neck pain. Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair.
