DELBERT ‘DEBBIE’ OWEN LEE, SR., DANFORTH – Delbert ‘Debbie’ Owen Lee, Sr., 87, died on May 28, 2018, at his home in Danforth. He was born on May 20, 1931, in Danforth, the son of Raymond and Caroline Muncey Lee.
Delbert had many loves in his life, first and foremost was his wife, Janice E. Frye Lee, who was his soulmate for 65 years, followed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter. Delbert also had a deep passion for his garden and watching it grow. He attended schools in Danforth and worked in the woods most of his life. He owned and operated Lee Logging for many years. Delbert loved to dance and continued to do so until his passing. He was locally known for all the tomatoes he raised and gave to many townspeople.
In addition to his wife, Janice Frye Lee; daughters, Beverly Lee Austin and her husband, Clayton, and Diane Lee Shaw and her husband, Richard; one son, Delbert Lee Jr. and his wife, Leta, Delbert is also survived by six grandchildren , David, Trina, Danica, Amanda, Bethann, and Shaelyn; eight great-grandchildren, Devin, Alexis, Christyan, Marissa, Maciah, Caidyn, Jacob and Abigail and one great-great-granddaughter, Avery; and a brother, Wyman Lee and his wife, Noreen, of New York; one brother-in-law, Douglas Frye; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Everett and Nelson, and by one sister, Sylvia. Delbert had many friends and was always ready to lend a hand when needed.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 9, 2018, at the Danforth Hill Top Cemetery in Danforth with Rev. Richard McLaughlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birchwood Hills Community Supports, PO Box 217, Danforth, ME 04424, or the local garden club.
