PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A power outage Monday morning that left more than 2,300 Emera Maine customers in the Presque Isle area without electricity was blamed on a squirrel damaging a substation.

According to Emera Maine, 2,341 customers in Presque Isle and Chapman lost power after 6 a.m. Monday due to a squirrel getting into equipment in a substation serving that area.

A company spokesperson said that all service was restored by around 7:40 a.m.
