CARIBOU, Maine – Allan Michael Thomas, 60, died on June 20, 2018, at his Caribou residence. He was born in Caribou on June 4, 1958, the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy Fern (Hunter) Felch Thomas. Growing up on a busy farm, he found himself involved in hard farm labor, which developed his working character early in life. He loved to work. Allan possessed a natural talent for woodworking and metal fabrication.
Mr. Thomas was a 1977 graduate of Caribou High School and following graduation he began working for Aye Farms and was also employed with Soderberg Construction and John T. Noble Construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He left his mark in many construction places in our community, such as the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery stone sign, as well as many stone walls and house foundations.
He is survived by one son, Travis Thomas of Caribou, his former wife, Becky Hafford, though they parted ten years ago, they remained close friends and neighbors until his passing. This marriage produced a son, Travis, who, Allan truly loved. Brothers and sisters, Henry Felch of Augusta, Linda Bourgoine of Washburn, Irene Thomas of Tarboro, NC, Diane Beliveau of Gorham, Sandra Feeley of Denmark, Pamela Thomas of Bangor survive him, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, but none like Rodney “Frankie” Bourgoine; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends and former coworkers.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, with Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Friends visited with the family from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
