Caribou team takes soccer tourney

CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou I prevailed in the Caribou Classic 7v7 Boys Soccer Tournament on Saturday, July 14.

The event was played at Caribou High School where the teams played a five-game round robin format and then were seeded for the knockout round.

Caribou I defeated Presque Isle I in the finals, 3-1. Alex Ezzy, Austin Findlen and Ethan Holdsworth scored a goal apiece for Caribou I, while Jonah Hudson had the Wildcats’ goal.

Caribou I had defeated Caribou II in one semifinal, while Presque Isle I stopped Houlton in the other.

Members of the winning team included Ezzy, Findlen, Holdsworth, Noah Hixon, Alex Hyde, Tommy Pinette, Theo Strid, Carter Belanger, Carter Quist and Riley Bouchard.

The runners-up consisted of  Hudson, Torey Levesque, Will Bridges, Mason Young, Kyler Caron, Drew Cameron and Zech Morse.

Thirteen squads competed — three from Caribou, three from Presque Isle, two from Fort Kent and one apiece from Madawaska, Ashland, Washburn, Central Aroostook and Houlton.
