HOULTON, Maine — During a brief Town Council meeting Monday evening, councilors reappointed residents to a municipal committee and accepted federal grant funding for the community.

Five people were re-appointed to the town’s Airport Committee Advisory Board, Town Manager Bill MacDonald said.

Eugene Ross, James Peters and Ken Hayes were named to the board through July 31, 2019, while Galen Hogan and Terry Beals were selected to the panel through July 31, 2021.

Matthew Nightingale was appointed to the board as a member through July 31, 2020.

In other business, the town accepted $5,951.44 from the federal Department of Homeland Security through the Operation Stonegarden Program for the Houlton Police Department.

Operation Stonegarden is designed to enhance cooperation and coordination among U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and state and local police to prevent, protect against, and respond to border security issues.
