ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Much needed rain has come to green up the fairways and roughs. The greens are in fine condition and are rolling smoothly. Many thanks to Russ and his crew for the fine work they are doing to maintain the course.

Winners in Sunday pairs and spares were Betty Smallwood, Joy  Ivey, Tom Ryan and Andy Ivey with 36. In a tie for second with 38 were Jon Smallwood, Val Powers, Deb Porter and Mike Ivey, and Ralph Powers, Ted and Terry Pettengill.  Plan on joining in next Sunday at 3 p.m.

In the Friday Night Frolic, the scores were low with Steve Merry, Deb Porter and Alan Zepp leading the way with 33.  Finishing second with 34, were Clay Halliday, Dick Kelley and Tom Ryan with 34. In third place, one stroke behind were Warren Walker, Fern Zepp, and John Porter.  Plan on attending this week.

Twilght league had some good scores this week.  Clay Halliday shot 34. At 36 were Adam Derosier and Warren Walker, Steve Merry with 37, Steve Edwards with 39.  Other notable scores were Tom Ryan 44, Garth Townsend, Bill Boulier and Phil Desmond 45, Jon Smallwood 46, Joe McAuliffe 47.

The County Open is coming up on August 11 and 12.  Get signed up to play on Saturday in a stroke play event in Houlton and Sunday for a 4 person scramble at Va Jo Wa. Remember, the Slice is open daily at 11 a.m., serving a variety of lunch and dinner items.
