Fort Fairfield plays at Easton, with both the girls and boys games beginning at 3:30 p.m., for the only varsity soccer games in the region to be played Tuesday.

The Tiger girls, under new coach John Ala, are looking to end a three-game losing streak after they had won their first game of the season in Washburn. The Bears, under new head coach Katie Zarrilli, are winless at 0-3.

The boys matchup is between the 2-2 Tigers, coached by Cody Tompkins, and coach Ryan Shaw’s Bears, who enter with a 1-2 mark.

On Monday, four matches were played — two in Washburn and the other two in Fort Kent. Summaries are as follows:

Washburn’s Kyli Farley gets ready to take a shot on goal against Hodgdon defenders Katherine Berube (22) and Delaney Little (7) during the match played Monday in Washburn. Farley scored three goals in her team’s 10-3 victory. (Kevin Sjoberg)

Washburn girls 10, Hodgdon 3 — Kyli Farley scored three times and five different teammates also provided goals as the Beavers eased past an undermanned Hawks squad.

Sam White and Kassie Farley each netted two goals, while Alexis Carney, Madison Miller and Jayden Harris added one apiece. Washburn led 6-1 at intermission.

Emma Drew had the first two Hawks’ goals and Sabra Scott scored the third with 15 seconds remaining. Hodgdon was playing its first match of the season and only had 11 players in uniform.

Trinity Saucier saved 12 of 20 shots for 2-3 Washburn and Autumn Ganzel of the Hawks had 15 saves while being peppered with 55 attempts.

The win was the second in a row for Washburn and coach Marcie Barbarula said she likes the way her team is competing.

“The girls are gaining confidence in themselves and are coming together as a team,” Barbarula said. “They are working very well together and having girls come off the bench and contributing the way they have the past couple games has been a huge asset.”

Hodgdon boys 5, Washburn 2 — Josh Palmer scored four times and Colton Folsom had the Hawks other goal as they prevailed in their regular season opener played Monday in Washburn.

After Washburn’s Angel Taveras scored his second goal of the game on a breakaway off an Aidan Churchill assist, the match was tied at 2-2 with 34:20 to play in the second half. Colby Hewitt had assisted on Taveras’s first-half goal.

Hodgdon went on to score three unanswered goals. Folsom provided the first with 23:48 left and Palmer, who scored two in the first half, netted insurance goals with 10:24 to go and with 6:25 left.

Michael Sanders was the goalkeeper for the Hawks and Beckham Vaughn was in net for the Beavers.
