Peace is possible

To the editor:

The International Day of Peace was celebrated on Sept. 21. Thousands of people worldwide, from as close as Bangor, took part in witnessing for peace. Their goals are to encourage a culture of peace and nonviolence free from war, poverty, racism, environmental destruction, and the epidemic of violence.

We, as members of Pax Christi, are part of that worldwide effort to promote peace, respect of human rights, and justice and reconciliation around the world. We are grounded in the belief that peace is possible and that vicious cycles of violence and injustice can be broken. We look to the nonviolent Jesus for guidance and inspiration.  Our members meet monthly in hopes of learning how to disarm our hearts and become instruments of peace. We hope that others will join with us as we pray for peace in our hearts, homes, community, and the world.

You are welcome to join us.
