Dorothy “Dot” (Holmquist) Tomlinson

CARIBOU, Maine – Dorothy “Dot” (Holmquist) Tomlinson of Caribou, Maine, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, September 24, 2018. She was born in New Sweden on March 23, 1922. Dorothy was the daughter of Waldo and Gerda Holmquist.
Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Philip Tomlinson, on March 2, 1942. They enjoyed 74 years of marriage filled with children, travel and friends from many parts of the country before his death on February 10, 2016. Since they were a career Navy family, many years of their marriage were spent moving around the country to places such as Washington, D.C., Virginia, Michigan, and Puerto Rico and always returning to their roots in Maine.
Dorothy also enjoyed her time working retail at Porteous-Mitchell, S & H Greenstamp store, Buzzels in Caribou, and at Carolyn’s Restaurant. She also obtained her CNA license and worked at York Hospital for several years. Dorothy was also an active member of the Covenant Church of New Sweden, and the Women’s Covenant Ministries. She was known for her stylish fashion sense and jewelry was her passion.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, David and his wife, Theresa of Eliot, and Robert of Madawaska Lake; daughters, Phyllis Robbins and her husband, Elwood of Holly Hill, Florida, and Susan Pellizzer and her husband, Jerry, of Redwood City, California. She will be missed by grandchildren, Lee Anne and Robert Meals, Philip and Rosa Tomlinson, Mark and Becky Tomlinson, Shane and Caitie Tomlinson, Adam and Zoila Urbani, and Ryan Pellizzer; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Nicole Meals, and Jake Tomlinson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Roy and Linwood; and her sisters, Amber and Alice.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 1-3 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.
