Phillip Myrick Morse

PHILLIP MYRICK MORSE, PATTEN – On August 29, 2018, at the age of 79, Phillip Myrick Morse, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to join our Lord and Savior surrounded by family. Tears fell as he listened to “Old Rugged Cross” for the last time. Phil was born on March 5, 1939, in Hersey, the son of Lloyd and Amy (Myrick) Morse, the oldest of five children.
He met the love of his life in his hometown of Patten. After a lengthy “I’m going to get that girl!”, Deanna Ordway agreed to share her life with his. Together, they shared their love of the Lord and family for 59 years.
Phil grew up working in his father’s garage and plowing snow and continued to be a skilled mechanic and plowed snow commercially until he retired. He was a jack of all trades and there didn’t seem to be anything he couldn’t master. Phil and Deanna, worked together on carpentry projects; building and rebuilding homes, garages, and offices and would often grab their hammers and help their children with their building needs.
Phil and Deanna enjoyed many years of traveling the U.S.A., St. Martin, and Aruba. Phil’s favorite thing to do was travel and finding a beach was the best. Stretching out to enjoy the sun with his feet in the sand was his perfect day.
He enjoyed ten and a half years in Patten Pentecostal Church with Pastor Frank Randall Jr. and his wife, Tammy. Frank Randall III also holds a special place in Phil’s heart.
Phil is survived by his wife, Deanne Morse; his son, Craig and his wife, Jeanne; son, Brett and his wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Cody Morse and his wife, Caitlin and their children, Nicole, his heavenly grandson, Tanner, Natalie and Jack; Matthew Morse and his partner, Danielle and his children, Abbie, MacKenzie and Myah; Wyatt Morse and his partner, Abby Lynch; and Caley Morse; his stepgrandchildren, Joshua Morse and his wife, Jacquie and their children, Dominic and Jace; Jay Morse and his wife, Leanne and their children, Olivia and Hunter; and Steven Whitney; his brother, Paul Morse and his wife, Ann.
Deanna’s siblings were truly Phil’s family. He loved them all and shared many happy times with them. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Beth Bates and husband, Ken, Becky Phillips and her husband, Ken, and Bobbie Takis; brothers-in-law, Dwight Ordway, Kirk Ordway and his wife, Julie and Kent Ordway and his wife, Darlene; Kim Sawyer, who is the mother of two grandchildren and remained a special family member in Phil’s life; lifelong friends, Rodney Lord, Alton Violette, Herb and Janet Hardy Jr., Marilyn Somers, George Merrow; several nieces and nephews and many special friends over the years, too numerous to mention. Phil was predeceased by several very special friends, Rose Merrow, Norman and Erlene Bishop, Delbert and Rubenia Botting, Paul and Stella Yellin.
A luncheon was held to remember and celebrate the life that was Phil’s on Sunday, September 2nd in the fellowship hall at the Patten Pentecostal Church. A celebration of life began at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the church. We concluded Phil’s services by inviting everyone to participate in a procession as we made one more trip around Patten, a ride that Phil enjoyed from the time he was able to drive. Those whose wish to remember Phil in a special way, can make gifts payable in his memory to Patten Pentecostal Church, 101 North Road, Patten, ME 04765.
