Presque Isle native continues family tradition with new billing services business

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Melissa Carson, a native of Presque Isle, recently began a new journey in her career as the owner of Maine Billing Services, located in downtown Presque Isle.

Carson’s grandparents, Paula and Glenn Carson, previously operated County Financial Services out of the same office at 421 Main Street. She recently purchased the office space from her grandparents after they decided to retire and renamed the business Maine Billing Services.

The 24-year-old began working for her grandparents during college and said that the experience helped her realize that she enjoyed working within the medical and business billing field.

“They provided medical billing services but also specialized in repossession of vehicles and ran a collection agency,” Carson said, about her grandparents. “Even though my current focus is on medical billing, I’d like to expand and provide billing for small businesses and self-employed people.”

Carson graduated from Presque Isle High School in 2012 and from Northern Maine Community College in 2015 with a degree in business administration.

“My grandparents were looking to retire and so I saw a great opportunity to become more involved in the community and learn more about the various billing services that the business could provide,” Carson said.
