The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.
Members held a business meeting and discussed upcoming events.
The club met next on Nov. 27 and welcomed speaker Griffin Goins, who does marketing for Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle. Raised in Oregon, he studied journalism in college and worked at various newspapers, magazines and other jobs before moving to Los Angeles.
He worked for Paramount Pictures doing marketing but he and his new wife wanted to move to the East Coast as they felt that the LA area was not where they wanted to raise their family.
Goins did a job search in New England and participated in some interviews, but didn’t feel like he had found the right place until he found NMCC. After doing some research on Aroostook County, he flew to Presque Isle in July and met with Tim Crowley and Dottie Martin of NMCC. He felt right at home and started looking for a temporary rental to live in until he and his wife had a chance to check out the area.
He loaded up their dogs and bunny and started driving across country. His family flew. They are currently living in Mapleton and are settling in nicely.

Upcoming events for the week of December 5-11 include: Wednesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Residents Council at 9:30 a.m. and Christmas Past Reminiscing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Christmas Cookie Decorating at 1:30 p.m. Friday will feature Christmas Jingo at 9:30 a.m. and Dayroom Cinema with Popcorn at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will feature Bingo with Paula at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will have televised church in the day room. Monday will feature Nails with Shallee and Melissa at 9:30 a.m. and Cribbage Games at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m.

Bingo
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting Bingo on Saturday evening beginning at 7 p.m. at the Post. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends.
