Business owner relocates, expands hair salon to Main Street in Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A hair salon formerly located in Fort Fairfield has found a new home on the corner of State and Main streets in downtown Presque Isle.

Matthew Nadeau originally opened Bella Vita Hair Salon in Fort Fairfield, where he also lives, in 2016. He recently decided to move the business to Presque Isle as a way to gain more exposure, build his client base, and expand the types of salon services he and his three stylists can offer.

Currently, Nadeau is putting the finishing touches on the new space, which he hopes to open on Friday, Feb. 1. In addition to hair styling for both adults and children, he has expanded the services to include eyelash extensions and facials, and hopes to later offer massages and tanning. He also will sell clothing and other merchandise geared toward women.

“I had wanted to own my own business since I graduated from cosmetology school,” said Nadeau, who is originally from Fort Kent. “It was important for me to find a location that allows the business to provide high-end services for clients.”

Nadeau plans to hold a grand opening celebration in February to give community members a chance to tour the salon and ask about services. He said that he is glad to already hear positive comments from people about having Bella Vita part of downtown Presque Isle.

“Overall, the community has been very supportive. Many people from businesses downtown have stopped in to welcome us,” Nadeau said. “I’m looking forward to having a busy salon with people coming and going and forming our own little family here.”

Bella Vita is located at 473 Main Street in Presque Isle and can be reached at (207) 760-7228.
