PI hockey team improves record with easy win

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Wildcats remain in fourth place in the Class B North hockey standings following Saturday’s 10-1 thrashing of Messalonskee in a match played at Colby College Saturday evening.

PI holds a 9-2 record entering its next game, which will be played on the road Feb. 2 against Camden Hills.

Three Wildcat players were able to score their first career goals against the Eagles. Caleb Levesque and Alex Sweetser scored theirs in the first period, while Carter Jackson had his in the second.

Sweetser came through with another later in the match. Jake Stevens added three goals, while Jaren Winger, Jonah Roy and Thomas Patenaude also notched goals for PI. Patenaude, Stevens and Gage LeTourneau all picked up three assists in the game. Quinn DeMerchant and Cameron Levasseur each chipped in with two.

Presque Isle mustered up 46 shots throughout the match. Wildcat goalie Andre Daigle faced only six shots on the evening to get the win.
