Men’s hoop league in Caribou is 2-team race

CARIBOU, Maine — It appears to be a two-team race between Caribou Eye Care and REMAX North Realty for the regular season title in the Caribou Men’s Basketball League.

Caribou Eye Care currently leads the way with an 11-2 record, but REMAX is 9-2 and right behind. The two teams next meet on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m.

Griffeth Ford is in third place with a 7-7 record, while Fort Fairfield Alumni and the defending champion Aroostook Dream Team are both deadlocked with 4-7 records. Loring Job Corps holds an 0-10 record and is in sixth place.

Games are played Mondays and Wednesdays at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center . The season began in mid-November and runs through mid-March, with the playoffs following.

On Jan. 28, REMAX North Realty defeated Loring Job Corps, 58-40; while Caribou Eye Care stopped Griffeth Ford, 52-42.

In Jan. 30 action, Caribou Eye Care downed Loring Job Corps, 63-53; Aroostook Dream Team bested Griffeth Ford, 62-52; and REMAX North Realty eased past Fort Fairfield Alumni, 84-55.

The upcoming schedule has REMAX North Realty taking on Aroostook Dream Team on Monday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m., followed by the contest between Fort Fairfield Alumni and Loring Job Corps at 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Caribou Eye Care squares off against REMAX North Realty at 6 p.m. Griffeth Ford meets up against Loring Job Corps at 7 p.m. and Aroostook Dream Team faces Fort Fairfield Alumni at 8 p.m.
