Beckum races to Moosestompers 5K crown

HOULTON, Maine — A small group of hardy runners and walkers turned out Saturday morning for the annual Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run 5K road race.

With temperatures in the single digits to start the day, many runners and walkers were bundled up prior to the start of the race, which serves as the first race of the Aroostook Musterds Running Club series.

Participants in the two-mile walking event, which was not timed, were: Jennifer Brisley, Brent Bailey, Alissa Given, Leslie Gardner, Virginia Hartin, Rosemary Langer, Lorraine Guiggey, and Keith Mackenzio.

This year, funds raised through the event will benefit the Houlton Recreation Department in its  effort to purchase picnic tables for the Just for Kids playground.
