Library features ‘hometown heroes,’ free computer classes

MARS HILL, Maine — The Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library in Mars Hill announces the following upcoming special programs.

Story Time with Our Hometown Heroes is offered the last Tuesday of each month. Dave Cyr, Mars Hill town manager, will attend the next Story Time on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. to read from the Johnny Tractor series. A new hero will read each month.

On Thursday, Feb. 28, from 5-7 p.m., Robert Hohman, an Americorps volunteer with the Digital Equity Center, will teach free computer classes at the library. Beginners are welcome.  This first class will be an introduction to the classes offered. Those attending will determine the best times to meet.

Some topics will include an introduction to the computer and internet safety, Windows 7 and 10, Micrsoft Office, social media, Google Docs and more.
