Reed Gallery presents New Brunswick Art Bank exhibit

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Reed Art Gallery features works from the New Brunswick Art Bank collection through March 15, 2019.

A gallery reception will be held Friday, March 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk. Light refreshments will be served. The Reed Gallery is located on the second floor of the University’s Center for Innovative Learning.

The New Brunswick Art Bank, established in 1968, celebrates the province’s excellence in the visual arts. The Art Bank purchases artwork by contemporary New Brunswick artists every two years, from emerging artists to artists with a long-standing reputation.

An important aspect of the bank is its exhibition program, which is designed to enhance public awareness and appreciation of the Art Bank collection.

The show on display at UMPI features works by 20 artists in a wide range of mediums, from photography and painting to textiles, sculpture and mixed media.

The Reed Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. For more information, contact Reed Gallery Director Hyrum Benson at (207) 768-9441 or hyrum.benson@maine.edu.
