School urges parents to register for conferences

Mapleton Elementary School parent-teacher conferences will be held on Monday, March 11, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 12, from 5 to 8 p.m.  The school is offering online registration for the spring parent-teacher conferences to give parents the opportunity to schedule times that best fit their needs as well as the opportunity to choose teachers they would like to see.

Requests will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Parents are encouraged to log on and register as soon as possible as time slots fill up quickly.  Completed registrations will result in email confirmations and reminders to parents prior to appointments.  The online link is available in a letter from Principal Daniel Duprey, posted on the Mapleton Elementary School Facebook page.

Parents who do not have Internet access or who encounter difficulties registering may call the school at 764-1589.

Principal Duprey is excited about the online registration and hopes parents find it a convenient solution to better conference scheduling.  The school welcomes questions and comments about the process.

First Friday Luncheon

March is the month that brings baseball’s spring training, the changeover to spring and the green celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.  The monthly First Friday Luncheon will be held this Friday, March 1, at the Mapleton Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m.

Chefs have promised an exciting and tasty luncheon to help everyone enjoy windy March.  Everyone will be thankful for a colorful and hot meal. Come and see what surprises the chefs are planning — will they be green or will they be wind-driven and luscious?

The real joy is sharing a meal with longtime friends as well as making new friends, sharing family updates, stories and memories.   Remember, there is no charge for the lunch, but donations will be accepted.

Senior meeting

The Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill Seniors will hold their next regular potluck luncheon at the Mapleton Methodist Church on Monday, March 4, at 11:30 a.m.

Following the last meeting, the group enjoyed a rousing set of Bingo games with prizes.

After the next meeting, the group will learn a new craft project.

Caroline Ballerstein said everyone over age 55 is invited to attend and join the group.  It is a traditional potluck lunch, so bring something and enjoy the lunch prepared by experienced cooks.

Snowmobile Club events

On Wednesday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m., the Chapman Ridge Runners will hold their monthly directors’ meeting at the clubhouse on Town Hall Road, Chapman.

On Saturday, March 9, at 6 p.m., the club will host a fun filled Soup and Sandwich Night (bring one) for members only.  A highlight of the evening will be a rousing Bingo session.

For more information, call Sue Maynard.

Fundraising success

The West Chapman Advent Christian Church thanks friends and members who came out for dinner last Saturday evening.  The church appreciates the support and donations they received through the fundraising dinner.

Everyone is welcome to attend worship services at the church each Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m., with the service at 10:45 a.m.
