Presque Isle area technical center students test skills in Bangor

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A group of students from the Presque Isle Regional Career and Technical Center recently travelled to Bangor for the SkillsUSA state conference.

Students enrolled in a range of CTE fields attended the state SkillsUSA conference and competed in different training categories. A group from the Presque Isle RCTC also qualified for and will be headed to the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, in June.

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving technical and trade education programs and brings students together at the regional, state and national level.

More than 20 PI RCTC students attended the state conference and a number of them earned medals in their respective programs.

Among students winning gold medals were Chance Bragan in masonry; Gabe Herweh, Riley Roderick and Ty Schneider in industrial and engineering technology; Belle Thibault in customer service; Anna Robinson in prepared speech; and Kaci Bates in extemporaneous speech.

Winning silver medals were Taylor Hedrich in job Interviewing; and Jason Dumais and Ethan Cassidy in additive manufacturing.

Winning bronze were Grace Gallagher in technical drafting; and Sydney Chavez, Molly Kingsbury, Cole Paterson, Jacob Sjoberg, and Noah White in the quiz bowl.
