Scarborough company acquires Caribou Crown Equipment

CARIBOU, Maine — Beauregard Equipment, a large equipment company headquartered in Scarborough, acquired Crown Equipment of Caribou on May 1, and will continue to provide northern Maine with access to agricultural equipment brands such as New Holland, Massey Ferguson, Sunflower and Great Plains.

Caribou is now home to the third Beauregard Equipment branch in Maine, in addition to their New Hampshire and Vermont locations.

Business owner John Beauregard said future plans include upgrading to a larger facility within the next couple of years and bringing in some new product lines, such as CASE construction equipment.

The company already has embraced its new name, with signage changed to Beauregard Equipment and receptionists stating it when answering the phone. Beauregard said on Friday that the company plans to hire additional employees as this expansion occurs.

“As part of our growth plan, we have been looking for a few years to add more dealerships,” he said.

Former Crown Equipment Manager Bernard Dyer, who no longer will work for the company, said he looks forward to the new direction and growth that will come as a result of Beauregard’s acquisition.

He added that the management team at Crown, which has been a part of Caribou since 1990, is “tickled right to death” at the acquisition, adding that they will “certainly miss being involved with all the employees and customers” as Beauregard officials take over the new location.

“Crown is very pleased and proud to become part of the Beauregard family and continuing on our growth path as we enter into this next chapter in the evolution of the dealership,” said Bernard Dyer in a press release. “We will continue to provide the highest level of support to our customers while working to meet the high standards that all our stakeholders deserve.”

Beauregard also said that Beauregard Equipment holds “the Crown team in the highest regard and felt their dedication to customer service aligned well with [its] history.”

The transaction officially took place on May 1.
