Mapleton Lions hold successful auction

Mapleton Lions Club President Adam Nicak recently thanked everyone who attended and supported the 57th annual Mapleton Lions Club Auction.

The funds raised will be used for college scholarships, eyeglasses for those in need, sponsorship of the Mapleton Boy Scout Troop, support of Mapleton Daze, sponsorship of a local student to Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp, support of the Mapleton Summer Recreation and Little League Programs, and many other community needs.

Auction Chair Matt Gregg described this year’s auction as a real success based on the cash donations received, product and service donations made by area businesses and generous spirit of those who attended and purchased the donated items.  He thanked club members, donors and buyers for their active support of the club and its charities.

The Club is now preparing for their Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony on May 27 and the coming Mapleton Daze activities in June.  The Mapleton Lions invite everyone to attend both of these important events, which are made possible as a result of the successful auction.

Memorial Day preparations

The Mapleton Lions Club is preparing for the annual Memorial Day parade, which is a community parade.

All organizations, community groups, churches and other interested individuals are invited to participate.  No registration is necessary. To join the parade, simply report to the parade line-up area on the Dudley Road at the end of Main Street and join in.  Lions Club members will be present to assist participants.

Following the parade, the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Mapleton-Chapman-Castile Hill Veterans Memorial Monument at the Mapleton Elementary School.  Everyone is welcome to attend and share in remembering the sacrifices of the veterans from the three towns.

Seniors lunch

The next regular seniors lunch is scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2018.  This will be a potluck lunch and will be held at the Mapleton Methodist Church at 11:30 AM.

All seniors are welcome to attend.  Just bring something for the potluck and your place setting.  There is no charge to attend and enjoy the meal and the following activity.  This will be the last meeting before Memorial Day, when the Seniors Group will make final plans for their food sale before and during the Mapleton Lions Club Memorial Day Parade.
