Weather service issues strong thunderstorm warning for July 2

CARIBOU,  Maine — The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has issued a thunderstorm warning for southeast Aroostook County.

At 520 p.m., EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Reed Plantation, or 7 miles northwest of Danforth, moving south at 25 mph. Forecasters said 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail were possible.

Impacts could include minor hail damage to vehicles and considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include Danforth, Topsfield, Haynesville, Wytopitlock, Reed Plantation, Codyville Plantation, Weston, Prentiss, Carroll, Orient, Bancroft, Glenwood, Eaton, Brookton, Forest and Forest City.
