MARS HILL, maine — The Mars Hill Rotary Club held their weekly meeting Tuesday, July 23, at the Northern Light Continuing Care facility in Mars Hill.

The program was an update to the members of the recent board meeting held the week before.  President Dave Cyr updated the group about the upcoming Rotary car hop supper during Homecoming on Friday, August 9th from 4:30 to 6:30.  He also updated the members on the upcoming Alton McQuade Mars Hill Open Golf Tournament put on by the Mars Hill Rotary, which is being held Aug. 17 and 18 at the Mars Hill Country Club.

Members talked about the new Rotary sign that will be up soon coming into Mars Hill.  The group also voted to make a donation to Catholic Charities for “Feed The County,” and they are purchasing new hymn books for the Northern Light Continuing Care facility in Mars Hill to use during their weekly church services.

Cindy Richendollar was a guest from the Washburn Rotary Club, and spoke about the upcoming Washburn August Festival being organized by their Rotary Club.  This year they will host the American Veterans Traveling Tribute Wall.

They are in need of volunteers to cover 24 hrs a day while the Wall is there.  Anyone wishing to help out may contact a member of the Washburn Rotary Club.
