Presque Isle man wanted on drug warrants crosses river and escapes police

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating a man wanted on drug trafficking warrants after he allegedly fled from the scene of a traffic stop Monday by crossing the Aroostook River and driving away with his father.

According to the Presque Isle Police Department, there are two active warrants for the arrest of Alan Raymond Jr. on charges of drug trafficking. Raymond Jr.  fled from the scene of a traffic stop on Washburn Road in Presque Isle Monday while officer Matt Brown was checking the information of some passengers in the vehicle.

Raymond Jr. jumped into the Aroostook River and swam across to Parsons Road, according to Presque Isle Police Department. 

Raymond Jr. tried to use the phone of a homeowner but was turned away, according to the Presque Isle Police Department. He then entered nearby woods and was later picked up in a vehicle by his father Alan Raymond Sr., according to the press release. 

The two evaded multiple police agencies during a chase, according to the Presque Isle Police Department.
