PIHS announces important dates for new school year

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Dave Bartlett, Presque Isle High School principal, has announced important dates for the upcoming start of the 2019-2020 school year.

On Monday, Aug. 5, the health office opened. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students transferring to PIHS must begin the registration process in the SAD 1 Health Office. Call 764-8105 to schedule an appointment.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Guidance Office opened; hours are 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call 764-7721 to make an appointment with one of the three guidance counselors.

Fall sports will begin on Monday, Aug. 19.

In-service days for high school faculty and staff will take place Monday, Aug. 12, and Tuesday, Aug. 13.

New Student Day will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14. This will be a day of school for grade 9, transfer students, and students attending PIRCTC and CRTC.  PIRCTC and CRTC students will need to be in attendance for their CTE classes only. Bus transportation will be provided and breakfast and lunch will be served.

Parent orientation from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Aug. 14 is planned for parents of incoming ninth-graders and other new students. From 7 to 8 p.m. will be an open house, with a dual enrollment information meeting slated at 7:45 p.m.

The school year will begin on Thursday, Aug. 15, as the first day of school for all students.
