NEW LIMERICK, Maine — A lot has been happening this week here at the Houlton Community Golf Course. The crew has been working hard on the maintenance of the course and getting it ready for the tournament this weekend. A wild rain storm on Thursday gave the fairways and roughs a valuable drink of water.

With that, our golf course has greened up quickly. Now we will prepare for this weekend’s Club Championship. And if you are a member, you should really sign up for the tournament. It is open to all members and is run in conjunction with the Presidents Cup tournament. These are handicap tourneys with different flights and a separate flight for ladies. Sign up sheets are on the events wall in the lounge. I would like to see all members playing to make this the big social event it used to be.

Two weeks from now over Labor Day weekend is the annual Babe Caron Memorial Tournament. There are only a few team spots available so call the proshop with your team. We will officially dedicate the new Memorial Bench for Babe Caron behind the sixth green.

The Lakeside Restaurant is open and booming. The summer menu is delicious and is bringing in a load of people. Give Nancy a call at 694-9494 to make your reservations.

The course is in great shape and you should come out and play a round. It’s a great time of the year and a beautiful course to enjoy. And I hope to see you on the course.

Houlton Community Golf Course is located on 6 Country Club Drive in New Limerick. For more information on the course call 532-2662, email houltongolf@gmail.com or visit their website www.houltongolf.com.
