ISLAND FALLS, Maine — Thank you for all your support this year. The course was as good as it has ever been and we are looking to more of the same in 2020. Several golfers mentioned that VaJoWa was the best conditioned course they played all year. Thank you to the maintenance crew for their hard work to accomplish that.
That being said, with increases in costs of fertilizer, fuel, insurance, wages, equipment, etc. and the shortened golf season due to weather, we are forced to increase membership fees in 2020. The cost in labor alone due to minimum wage increases has cost us an extra $500 to $750 per week, with an additional dollar per hour increase coming again next year.
Therefore, the 2020 single membership fee will be $450 and couple will be $850, Still the best price anywhere. We will try to hold cart rentals the same as 2019, providing the gas prices stay the same.
We will also be offering a new membership for 2020. It is for play weekdays only, plus weekend and holidays after 4pm. The cost is only $300, cart rental required.
In order to clean up year end debt, we are offering a 10% discount for any 2020 memberships paid by Nov. 15. Send check to VaJoWa Golf Course, 142 Walker Settlement Road, Island Falls, ME 04747. You can also stop in and see me at the golf shop this Saturday or Sunday from 9 to 12 during which time we will be having a “make an offer sale” on merchandise and equipment. Any reasonable offer will be accepted!
