Folk rock musician Adam Ezra to play benefit concert for Trinity Lodge

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — On Sunday, Dec. 1 Trinity Lodge 130, a Masonic lodge in Presque Isle, will welcome Boston-based musician Adam Ezra, lead singer of the Adam Ezra Group, for a solo show to benefit the lodge’s wheelchair lift project.

Derik Smith, a past master of Trinity Lodge, said that part of the proceeds of ticket sales from the concert will go toward the purchase and installation of a wheelchair lift. The lodge began fundraising for the lift this past summer, which they expect to cost around $20,000.

“Our building is kind of like a split ranch. After entering the front door, one can go upstairs to the lodge rooms or down to the dining room,” Smith said. “The chair we have was designed for folks who can stand on their own, but can’t take the stairs.

The building’s layout, Smith noted, makes it more difficult for people with paraplegia to get inside.

“The trustees of the lodge feel that it was time to make our building more accessible, so that folks may comfortably attend meetings and events,” Smith said.

Trinity Lodge is located at 230 State St. in Presque Isle and hosts events for local Masonic groups and other organizations. The lodge is partnering with Ezra’s nonprofit, RallySound, which partners with New England communities to raise funds and awareness for local causes.

Tickets for Ezra’s concert are currently on sale for $35 each at https://adamezra.com/december-1-2019-presque-isle-me-get-folked. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1, with the show beginning at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served during a break in between sets.

Ezra has played regular shows in Aroostook County both solo and with his band since 2013 and most recently played with the Adam Ezra Group in August during Thursdays on Sweden Street in Caribou.

“Adam loves playing in The County and hasn’t had a solo show here since 2016,” Smith said. “He’s a dynamic and charismatic performer, so it should be a heck of a night.”
