HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Higher Education Center is currently registering for University of Maine at Presque Isle and University of Maine at Augusta classes for its spring semester Jan. 21 to May 9, 2020.
Registration is open for both currently enrolled and new students. The Houlton Center offers college degree and certificate programs in their entirety so students never have to leave greater southern Aroostook County. Examples of popular programs include business, criminal justice, education, mental health and human services, cybersecurity, and psychology.
Hundreds of courses are offered through the Houlton Center in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, interactive television, web conferencing and online. These choices allow students to have great flexibility as they blend college studies with jobs and other responsibilities.
The Houlton Center is committed to providing affordable access to a university education, and helps students find possibilities to manage the growing costs of a college education.
According to the Houlton Higher Education Center’s Director, Tracy Rockwell, “The opportunity for students to get a first rate University education that is convenient and low cost right here in southern Aroostook County is pretty exceptional.”
Rockwell also noted that this semester local high school students are participating in High School Aspirations and Dual Enrollment programs, both part of the Early College program. This program allows high school juniors and seniors to earn University credits that can count for both high school and college credit.
