HOULTON, Maine — The Southern Aroostook Development Corporation will sponsor a workshop for companies interested in upcoming opportunities with two major projects slated for Aroostook County.
The two projects — a new Land Port of Entry and a new bridge spanning the St. John River, both in Madawaska — will be major construction opportunities.
The free informational session will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, at Houlton Regional Hospital’s Community Health Education Room.
Northern Maine Development Corporation’s Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center business counselor Dana Delano will explain what companies need to do to prepare for these projects’ opportunities.
“Business owners looking to participate in these projects will learn the overall scope of work and timeline for each project, how to find prime and subcontracting opportunities and services required,” said Delano.
Jon McLaughlin, executive director of Southern Aroostook Development Corporation, added, “We are excited to offer a program that will outline the two projects coming to The County and how area businesses can benefit from them. We want to make sure businesses are ready for the opportunities that will be available with these two important projects.”
The assistance center provides a variety of government contracting technical assistance services to Maine-based businesses of all sizes. Services are provided at no cost.
