HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met Monday, March 2, for their monthly meeting.  There were eight members and Deacon Al present.

Deacon Al offered a blessing, and a luncheon provided by the March committee was enjoyed by all. Following the luncheon, President Janet Barker called the meeting to order.  We said our opening prayer, salute to the cross and flag and hymn. Kathy Klein gave the Secretary’s report and Jane Mitchell gave the treasurer’s report. Alta Reardon read thank you cards and a letter from MDCCW outlining the upcoming quarterly meetings for 2020.  The next meeting of MDCCW will be on April 25 in Pittsfield.

President Barker reminded everyone that Rosary will be said at Madigan Nursing Home on April 16 and at Gardiner Nursing Home on the 20.  All are encouraged to attend.

Members delivered 40 Valentine bags to shut ins in February.  Recipients were delighted to receive a visit and bag of goodies.

Janet Barker gave an update on St. Patrick’s Bazaar which will be held on March 14. HCCW donated a girls bike and Knights of Columbus donated a boys bike for the raffle. There will be a cake walk, kid’s games, paddle wheel, raffles and music by Johnny Fitz and crew. A delicious meal of corned beef and cabbage and roast turkey and all the fixings will be served. Volunteers are still needed.

HCCW will hold their annual Baby Shower for the Pregnancy Care Center during the month of April. Members of the Parish will be invited to participate. A collection of new items can be left in the back of the church.

Birthdays were noted for the month of March. Prayer intentions were gathered and a decade of the Rosary was said. Julie Codrey won the door prize.

The next meeting will be on April 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. All Catholic ladies are invited to attend.
