Letter of thanks — Maine is becoming internationally known through the Ambulances and Jeeps which its school children are buying as a result of their War Bond selling campaigns for these invaluable types of equipment. Houlton High School is the latest to get a letter of thanks. It came from Belgium and was written by 1st Lieut. Joe L. Juskowisk, Co. A. 369 Medical Branch, and is as follows: “Dear friends, I call you friends because I feel we have one thing in common; that is we are out for the same goal. Victory is our present crisis. Recently in my company I have received an ambulance and marked on its side were the following words; ‘This marker is placed here in recognition of the Purchase of War Bonds in an amount equal to the price of equipment of this type, by Houlton High School, Houlton, Maine. Type of Equipment, Field Ambulance.’ I wish you all would be as proud of your ambulance as I am, because your ambulance is doing a big job carrying the wounded G.I. Joe’s. It has traveled from England to France into Belgium and now Germany. Pfc. Robert Gogan from your school is its driver. Graduated June 1943. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up your good work. May God bless your soul.”
