HOULTON, Maine — As the season begins to shift from winter to spring, banners in Houlton’s Market Square have changed from a bright blue snowflake design to purple banners featuring flowers.

Jane Torres, executive director for the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, and Raymond Jay, of Ray’s Tree Service, helped to put up the new banners. Torres is also the chair of the Houlton Town Council, while Jay is a former councilor.

Signs were also put up to promote the upcoming farmers’ market beginning in May — despite worries about whether it will begin on time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
