Peaceful vigil planned to end abortions

HOULTON, Maine — The 40 Days for Life kickoff and rally will be held at Monument Park in Houlton at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.

The event is an internationally-coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach and a peaceful, all-day vigil in front of abortion clinics.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be at the Salvation Army, 12 Court St. Music, praise and a “Blowing of the Shofar” will be held. The guest speaker is Randall Burns. A march from Monument Park through Market Square, ending at the Salvation Army building will also be held.
