WESTFIELD, Maine — A Saturday morning fire in Westfield destroyed a mobile home after firefighters spent several hours to completely extinguish the blaze.

At around 10:31 a.m. on Dec. 12, Mars Hill firefighters responded to a mobile home that had caught on fire at 29 Elliot Road Westfield. Easton and Presque Isle firefighters also were on the scene to help fight the fire.

According to Gerald Cousins, a member of the Mars Hill Fire Department, it took approximately 15 to 20 minutes to clear most of the fire, with firefighters remaining a few more hours to help extinguish remaining flames.

Officials from the Mars Hill Fire Department said the mobile home belonged to Gary Norris, who died in May at the age of 56. It is unknown at this point whether or not someone continued to live in the home following Norris’ death.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. There are no known injuries at this time as a result of the fire.
