Lighting up the holidays in Houlton

HOULTON, Maine — The magic and splendor of Christmas is on full display this year as residents and businesses alike have all seemed to embrace the need for a little bit of festiveness.

Houlton’s Monument Park has been the go-to place this year to experience the wonders of the holidays as the park was transformed into winter wonderland thanks to the generosity of several area merchants and local volunteers.

Santa Claus himself has been spotted inspecting the handiwork of the local elves and to also visit with area children while seated in a rocking chair in the Houlton Amphitheatre. It will only be a few short days before he has the busiest day of his year.

During this holiday season, take a moment to relax, check out some of the local decorations, particularly the beautiful storefronts in downtown Houlton, which harken back to yesteryear.
