HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the following activities in March. Some programs have limited space and require a registration. To register, call the Rec at 207-532-1310. Face coverings are required at all programs and activities.
Youth Basketball Skills and Drills — This three-week program will be offered to youth at in grades 1-2 on the following days and times: Friday, March 12, 19, and 26, 4-5:15 p.m. or 5:15-6 p.m.; Saturday, March 13, 20, and 27 from 9-9:45 a.m. or 10:15-11 a.m. This program is limited to 10 youth per time slot and youth can only be signed up for one time slot. Youth must bring their own basketball, water bottle & wear a face covering at all times. The cost is $30 for Houlton residents and $45 for non-Houlton residents per child. Registration deadline is March 8.
The Winter Sports Trailer will be open at the Houlton Community Park on the following days/times (weather permitting): March 6-7; March 13-14; March 27-28; and at the Riverfront Park on March 20-21 from noon to 2PM. The trailer has cross country ski packages and snowshoes for both youth and adults. These are free events for the public, face coverings are required. No registration is needed.
Rec Center Walking Times for March will be offered Mondays-Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No registration needed. Bring sneakers or soft sole shoes and a mask. Free to all participants.
Youth Drop in Hours for the gym are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Game Room hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:15-4:30 p.m. Youth must be in Grades 2-12 to attend the open gym and game room. Anyone younger must be accompanied by an adult. Face coverings are required at all times.
A “Cute as a Bunny” Curbside Giveaway will be held at the Recreation Department parking lot at 128 Main St. on Saturday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to noon. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet the children. There will be 240 goody bags for this event and it will be a first come, first serve. No registration needed.
