MARS HILL, Maine — A Mars Hill man was transported to the hospital Saturday evening and another man was arrested following a report of an assault with a weapon at a Benjamin Street residence.

Aroostook County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Central Aroostook Ambulance was already on scene at the Mars Hill residence for an unrelated call and requested law enforcement assistance because a 39-year-old man reportedly had several puncture wounds consistent with a knife assault.

The victim was transported to A.R. Gould Hospital in Presque Isle with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested Adam Jackson of Mars Hill. Police charged Jackson, 42, with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported him to Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.

The identity of the stabbing victim was not released by police.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Maine State Police and the Presque Isle Police Department.
