Van Buren announces honor parts for 2021

VAN BUREN, Maine — Van Buren District Secondary School has announced its senior honor parts for the Class of 2021.

Jayde Ashlee Violette is this year’s valedictorian.  She is the daughter of Brian and Gretchen Violette and has one younger sister, Elyssa. 

She is the vice president of Student Senate, a member of the National Honor Society, and has been active in athletics over her high school career, including four years of basketball, two years of soccer and one year of tennis. She is also a member of the Yearbook Committee and Project Grad. 

Over her high school career Violette has successfully completed 56 college credits that include concurrent enrollment classes from the University of Maine Systems and Northern Maine Community College. Jayde dedicates most of her time to working as a manager at the Van Buren Tasty Food and as a certified nurse’s assistant at Borderview. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her friends and family. 

She plans to attend Husson University in the fall in order to pursue her bachelor of science in nursing. 

Abigail Ayotte, the daughter of Chad and Michelle Ayotte of Van Buren, is this year’s salutatorian. 

She is president of the National Honor Society, president of her senior class, and has been active in athletics over her high school career. She has played soccer, basketball, and tennis and was a captain of the soccer and basketball teams. 

Ayotte is active in the Student Senate and has received numerous awards throughout her high school career including Phi Beta Kappa, the Principal’s Award and the County Scholar Athlete Award. She works at Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center and enjoys music, sports, the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends. 

In the fall she plans to attend Husson University for nursing. 

Lindsay Beaulieu is the daughter of Lynda and Fern Beaulieu of Van Buren and is the Class of 2021’s honor essayist.  

She is an active member of the Student Senate and currently holds the position of president. She is vice president of the National Honor Society and she is also a member of the yearbook staff and Project Graduation.

Beaulieu works at Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center in Van Buren as a unit helper. She enjoys riding dirt bikes, watching hockey, and hanging out with friends. 

She will attend Husson University in the fall for health sciences with the goal of becoming an optometrist.
